I set up the Women’s will Power Charity Group in September 2009 as I have always wanted to be able to help women help themselves, and not only help themselves but get back to their feet so they can start a new life and be part of a family. When I was younger I saw so many people from my home village let life pass them by as they were either unable or too scared or just did not have the support to become who they should become.

Like many other people in Thailand I had to help my Grandmother take care of the family as our mother and father were not around to help and support us and as the oldest it feel as my responsibility to make sure that the other children were looked after, I myself was only 7 years old at this time. It was hard for me being a child myself and having the responsibilities of an adult, which meant that I never had a childhood that I can remember, and was forced to grow up before my time. I went to school and then would work after school to help bring in some money for the family and would be working till midnight and then wake up at 4am to get the other children ready for school.

I went to live with my mother at 15 in Bangkok and things were looking good for a time, until the new man in my mother’s life started to become violent toward my mother, and I got to see it all, my mother was strong but everyone has a breaking point, and one day she just could not take any more.

This kind of story is everywhere in Thailand and Women here need a lot of help as not everyone has the strength and opportunities to get out of whatever mess they may be in.

I am one of the lucky ones that got my life back, how many women out there are facing a nightmare by themselves, all alone with no help and no support?

They may be lucky like I was and I hope and pray that starting my charity with the help of so many kind people from the models to the sponsors we can help by giving these women the chances that I did not get.

Coming from a broken family and once an orphan myself, I know how many children struggle to get a head start in life.

I am also a single Mother with 2 beautiful daughters and being able to give something back by working with charities is something I have been doing for almost 2 decades, and have supported many charities for under privileged children and orphans around the poorer rural regions of Thailand and Cambodia.

It is my hope from drawing on past charity experience and resources as well as the generous help from you reading this, that we can raise the necessary funds to help these women and children who are subjected to alcohol and drug induced cruelty and exploitation, and give them shelter from this torture and an opportunity for them to start a new life.

The reason I decided to join WWP 2011 is because I love media and charity. I used to think that you have to be rich to help people, and that is not true. You can help if you feel empathy for others and that you don't expect anything in return; that's what charity means to me. When I see all the less-fortunate people on the streets of Phuket, I realize how lucky I am and that I CAN help them. At the end of the day, we all want to feel good about ourselves and I feel good when I can help others.

The main reason I joined WWP is to participate and nurture the longevity of the organisation.

I think when people think of charity they automatically think of donating money, but I feel that I can give more to the organisation by using my networks and experience to keep the organisation expanding whether it be publicity, marketing or bringing sponsors on board.

I grew up with a mother who bought up my brother and me by herself and became a strong successful woman by taking control of her life and making something of it both personally and professionally.

I have my mother and my beautiful family to thank for the life I live today and I want to pass on what I can to help other women achieve the same things that we have. Anything is possible!
